Highland Leather Company is a working production leather shop established in 1985 by Doug McCubbins, a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. I, Doug ,have been designing and constructing leather bags since 1975, and my own work consists of designing and producing an original line of handcrafted leather bags featuring the best quality of materials and workmanship I can provide.

Remember, Highland Leather Company is a "production" craft shop. This means that I design and maintain an array of standard bags which I then reproduce in multiple quantities using the most efficient methods my equipment will allow. I do not make my bags on a one at a time or one of a kind basis. The "production shop" method of operating a crafts business ensures that my customers get the best possible bag for their money through careful attention to economy of design and efficient work habits, but it precludes the possibility of custom work and special orders. I like the process of reproducing and selling my own designs far better than I like the process of custom making, so I offer my bags on a strict "what you see is what you get" basis and do not honor requests for custom work and/or special orders.

After many years of exhibiting at 20 or more craft shows per year, I have shifted the primary focus of my retail business to my web site. The best place for an individual customer to buy one or two of my bags is right here on this site. I look forward to your business.
