Handmade leather bags by Highland Leather Company. We are a working production leather shop established in 1985 by Doug McCubbins, a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Doug has been designing and constructing well made highly functional leather goods at competitive prices for over 30 years. All of the bags in this category are handmade in our Asheville, North Carolina workshop using the best quality of materials and workmanship we can provide.
Highland Leather Company makes traditional handcrafted leather bags without fabric linings and with a minimum of hardware. The softly sueded back of the leather itself serves to line the bag, and hardware, when used, is solid brass. All inside pockets are made from the same leather as the exterior. Sturdy nylon shoe thread and reliable YKK zippers complete the construction.
The leather is deeply colored and tanned to resist spotting and staining. Rain water will not discolor your new bag, and the leather will not crack or peel under normal use. We recommend regular use of a good conditioner that does not contain silicone. Most shoe stores sell good silicone-free conditioners.
